Exercise 1

Compute

By linearity the integral of the sum is the sum of the integrals and multiplicative constants come out of the integral sign. From the table of elementary integrals, the integral of is and the integral of is , therefore the first two terms give and . The integral of is , hence the third term gives . The three constants of integration are combined into the single constant . Differentiating gives back the integrand, therefore the result is correct.

Exercise 2

Compute

The derivative of the exponent is and the factor appears in the integrand, therefore the integral is almost immediate of the form with . One multiplies and divides by to reconstruct exactly the factor ; at that point the formula gives , multiplied by the coefficient left outside. The check by differentiation gives , which is the integrand.

Exercise 3

Compute

Since , the denominator can be written as . The numerator is the derivative of , therefore the integral has the form with , whose result is . Differentiating gives , hence the result is correct.
